Cynthia began her modeling career after she moved to New York. She was quickly signed on to a five year contract to Wihelmina Models, which led her to a very successful debut book that was the cover model of Essence Magazine. Cynthia's cover of Essence wasn't just one of their best cover designs, but it was Susan Taylor's favourite. Cynthia secured her second Essence cover within a few days and set up the stage for a long-lasting career. Her next destination was Paris in addition to Milan. There she was spotted walking the catwalks at Paris Fashion Week. Cynthia was a sought-after model upon her return in New York City from living in Europe for more than a year. She landed campaigns with Maybelline Oil of Olay, Macy's and Macy's. Editorials for magazines such as Vogue Glamour Elle Essence as well as Vanity Fair followed. One of her most memorable career moments was being chosen against Naomi Campbell for a co-starring performance alongside Sandra Bernhadt in the film "Without You I'm Nothing."
